Hans Christian Andersen 'The Snow Queen'.  Gouache, chalk and charcoal on stretched blue paper.  The Snow queen in her icy palace in the northern most reaches of the Earth, surrounded by her wolves.    I wanted to create an obviously cold and icy image, so I stuck to a simple blue tint throughout.  With the softness of the chalk and charcoal it was possible to create the abundance of thick fur and sparkling jewels.
