"Northern Lights" -final book cover idea, for the first installment for Phillip Pullman's, His Dark Materials.  In this image I wanted to show the vastness of  Pullman's "Arctic" with Iorek the polar bear wandering the ice.  To create the texture and colours I layered strips of blue and pink tissue paper and inks, finally painting in the bear and swirling northern lights.
