Mencap Saturday Club Workshop

I frequently run creative sessions for Mencap, teaching art to adults with disabilities. As it was the Queen's birthday, I decided to begin the class with us making tie-dye style bunting, then finished with pretty summery watercolour sunflower pictures. Here are a few examples of the results.

Butterfly Commission

I was privately commissioned by a client to paint the outer and underwings of a Brown Hairstreak Butterfly and their eggs on a blackthorn bush, as a gift for a gentleman who worked with these beautiful creatures. The following images are detailed close ups of the individual parts.

Mencap Art Course Teacher

For the past two months I have run a pcd Art Course for adults with learning and physical disabilities, in my local community. Taking inspiration from the Nikolai Astrup exhibition we all visited, I provided the group with a number of themes, techniques and materials not normally associated with regular art classes, in the hope of engaging students in developing creativity, nurturing self expression, building confidence and enjoying new ways of working.
